Along with my familial experience I have worked in many areas of aged care for many many years and have seen and been involved with assisting folk deal with the dreadful separation grief that can so often occur when a lifetime of treasures has to be disposed of because of a house move...into much much smaller accommodation or being required to move into assisted living facilities due to a health decline where only minute amounts of personal belongings can be accommodated...it can be a very sad experience for everyone involved. These examples are what makes me very cautious about where I focus my need for possessions, to the point now I can say, hand on heart, that there is almost nothing that I would miss should I now need to walk away from everything, just my EHD's and my phone...I am good to go!
Back to now folks...So, I have been building a small collection of pamphlets, concert programmes, various tourist information booklets, (collected when we have visitors to the State...), things like paint swatches and maps...all on nice weight paper, that sort of thing, and I have been going to make them into a proper recycled paper journal now for some time. The bin I store these things in was becoming a tad full, so the wait is over! This weekend I have made my recycled glue book... and the very best bit? My recycle (feel-too-guilty-to-compost), bin is almost empty, yay!
Often when making journals for such things as journaling, photograph display or an event record, the unwanted paper items simply don't "fit" into the layout...I think "junk" journals are much better when the whole project is made from recycled items so they become the feature...
I videoed a flip through, watch here or on You Tube...
It is many many years since I had a glue book or scrapbook as I called them in my childhood. Almost sixty in actual fact...I am looking forward to using this for a visual, tactile prompt journal...I have digital images and files for reference but I still prefer having something I can hold, turn the pages and go back to over time, I will let you know how it turns out...something else to leave behind when I go...;)
