Had really good news the other day, my eldest son and his partner have booked to travel home for Christmas this year, it will be lovely to see them and have them here for a week or two.
My niece needed surgical intervention on her spine last week, but it was a much simpler procedure than she was lead to believe, thank goodness, and she was able to travel home to the North West coast last Saturday. She made a great recovery but will need further interventions in coming years, which I know she dreads. She is a stoic, independent young woman who finds it very difficult to ask for, or accept assistance.
We have had the dogs to visit again for a couple of nights and I did miss them when they went home, although I don't miss the muddy paw prints on the tiled floors! Dogs are such good company and give such unconditional affection...
I have been undertaking a great paste research over past weeks and am trialling a methyl cellulose and PVA mixture at present. I have been using a huge amount of glue in making the albums in particular and a discussion with one of the helpful folk at Artery in Hobart got me on the trail of Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) which Tim found at our local cake decorating supply shop (we had thought a chemist may have it). Glue has a pretty amazing history... but we won't go there just now.
These blog posts are getting way too long with so many photographs...I may be needing to think about videoing soon. I looked at powerpointing and saving as a video but that takes ages also and I think needs better photography skills than I have...need to ponder on this.
Oh yes, Thanks to everyone who has helped get me motivated with this album...The EPB 3 pocket insert and the EPB foldout pocket are both from Papercrafter45's You Tube videos, the EPB pocket tags are from LiveLoveScrap and the 6x6 mini album pages are from Scrapbook Maven. As usual, I used the Kathy Orta Hidden Hinge system to bind the pages.
I have used freebie images from Ephemera's Vintage Garden for the birdies on the pockets and the oval image on the album cover, also some tags from Peculiar Ancestry, they are so cute!
